GOOD LIFE
NARRATIVE SHORT FILM \ RUN TIME: 12:35
Chris White and Emily Reach White’s first film collaboration was GOOD LIFE — now remastered and upgraded to 4K for the Studio 15 YouTube page.
Crowdfunded in the fall of 2010, then completed within a few short weeks, this sweet story of a down-on-his-luck, recently divorced dad taking his ten year-old daughter out for a fancy birthday dinner became a surprise hit on early Vimeo and inspired the Whites’ first feature-length film TAKEN IN only a few months later.
GOOD LIFE is a grace story made in the American “mumblecore” style — improvised dialogue, free-wheeling DSLR cinematography, minimalistic lighting, and a found edit crafted from subtleties in the actors’ performance as opposed to more traditional film structure. The film stars real-life father and daughter Chris and Harriet White.
